Plastic Material

Plastic is the most widely used material for two reasons: (1) When the product needs to be mass-produced, the plastic material can better ensure that the product meets the considerations of consistency, repeatability, and economy; and (2) Plastic has the ability to be produced quickly, and its properties are easily to be changed, Plastic materials can meet specialized functional requirements for many types of products, such as:

  • Outdoor products that need UV resistance, for which plastic composites are suitable
  • Products with higher strength and toughness to avoid product breakage or chipping during use, for which plastic and rubber materials are suitable
  • Flame resistance in order to comply with indoor safety regulations, in which case certain plastic products can prevent or delay burning

In recent years, the application level of modified plastics has become wider and wider. Many well-known chemical companies in the world, from Saudi Arabia's SABIC and Germany's Covestro, to Switzerland's EMS group and Taiwan's Chi Mei (CHIMEI), each have their own specialization and research and development of modified plastic products. Now, fortunately, companies can choose to face the single window of Chain-Ray. In our material database, we have a selection of global materials that we’ll help you sort through. You won’t be limited in materials by what we manufacture, since we work with suppliers all over the world. You’ll also be given a plastic comparison chart, showing all candidate materials. From this, you can easily grasp the difference in properties and costs between plastic materials from different brands.

Case Sharing: Grill Pan

When camping in the wild,a grilling pan is often brought with for the cooking of food. Naturally, the grip handle that carries the overall weight of the pan and food will become warm when placed over a heating element. With this particular product, there was a clamp-style handle. If it were to break off or conduct too much heat, the user would be injured. Selecting the proper material for the grill pan clamp handle was essential. Chain-Ray considered aspects such as non-thermal conductivity, heat resistance, strong hardness, and abrasion resistance. The last elements looked at would ensure the clamp would open and close at least 100,000 times, after 3-5 years of continuous use. Deformation of the clamp must be prevented, since this occurrence would cause a consumer serious injury. Chain-Ray provided the customer with a property comparison chart of candidate materials, allowing the customer to look at the characteristics of each material. This included highest temperature resistance and cost, amongst others. It allowed the customer to find the most suitable condition within their budget.
